Dr. Bell-Thomson Leading the Charge in Minimally Invasive Surgery in WNY

Dr. Bell-Thomson is leading the charge in the use of minimally invasive cardiac surgery in Western New York.  Through the use of the DaVinci robot, Dr. Bell-Thomson performs mitral valve repairs and coronary artery bypass grafting through minimally invasive approaches.  This approach to surgery leaves minimal scarring, decreases hospital stay, and leads to sooner recovery for patients.

Warning Signs of Heart Failure

The American Heart Association highlights these leading warning signs of heart failure:

  • Shortness of breath (also called dyspnea)
  • Persistent coughing or wheezing
  • Buildup of excess fluid in body tissues (edema)
  • Tiredness, fatigue
  • Lack of appetite, nausea
  • Confusion, impaired thinking
  • Increased heart rate
